Hi! My name is Aubrey! I’m the mother of Christian Grace and Heidi Blake, who are the inspiration behind this blog. I decided to start this blog to share my pregnancy and motherhood experiences with anyone and everyone. I’ve always been a very organized person who likes to be prepared and always plan ahead — which is hilarious now that I’m a mom and have realized nothing goes as planned! After being told I should start a blog by numerous people, I decide to “pull the trigger”, so here we are!
A little about me! I’m a born and raised Texan. I grew up outside of Houston with my parents and older sister. I went to school at Texas State, where I rushed Delta Zeta and earned my BA in International Studies. I then went on to get my Masters in Education. While at Texas State, I met a handsome man and decided to make an honest man out of him ;). Chris and I have been married since 2016! I’m a middle school World Cultures teacher, but I’ve taken time off since 2019 to be a stay at home mom. I love teaching World Cultures because I get to expose my students to culture groups all around the world. Throughout the school year, I open their eyes to the beautiful diversity in our world, and my hope is by the end of the year they’ve learned to celebrate what makes everyone different!
On Halloween of 2017, Chris and I learned we were going to be parents! Our pregnancy took an unexpected turn when we learned at 17 weeks that our daughter would be born with a cleft lip and palate. The pregnancy was emotionally and physically difficult for both of us, but on July 6th, 2018, we finally met our sweet baby girl — Christian Grace. Our girl is so strong, and we’re so lucky to be her parents. September of 2019, after 6 months of trying, we got a big fat positive pregnancy test. We had some scares during the pregnancy — a terrible bleed at 8 weeks caused by a Subchorionic Hematoma and a placental lake. We also had to navigate the waters of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum during COVID-19. Heidi Blake arrived May 20th, 2020 into her daddy’s hands.
The goal of this blog is to share with everyone my personal pregnancy and parenting experiences. I’m by no means an expert on pregnancy or parenting, but I hope my experiences can help others! As always, don’t hesitate to contact me if there’s anything you’d like to see on the blog!
